WhatsApp Sets Record by handling 64 Billion messages In a Single Day

WhatsApp the famous Messaging Service Sets new daily record by handling 64 Billion messages within 24 hours.

We all Know WhatsApp was acquired by Facebook for a Whooping $19 billion dollar and here it sets another record in Billion, The billion dollar baby has started making news after the acquisition by Facebook and it made a huge buzz when it went down on February 23 causing a major Outage and now it sets another record for messages sent and received in 24 hours.

WhatsApp handles 64 billion messages


Here's the tweet from WhatsApp's Twitter account stating the record.



The Previous Record was on Dec 31st 2013 - 7B messages inbound, 11B messages outbound = 18 billion total messages processed in one day, But the recent one broke it by a huge margin which equals -- 3.5 X previous record

This record has lead to another outage like situation where most of the users are experiencing some issues early morning today, Although there isn't any Official confirmation from WhatsApp yet. But When verified from the site isitdownrightnow.com -WhatsApp It shows a ping of 4267.7 ms On April 1st around 9 AM PT which shows its encountering heavy usage during that period of time and well that might be a spark for this Outage.
